I've been knitting ...

Img_4969
So I've been neglecting my little blog; I want to begin posting more regularly.
Maybe once a week, if I'm lucky. I finished Aftur on 5 January for my sister's birthday. She really loves it. I made an album for Aftur - it's on the side bar. Since then, I've been plugging away on Flétta 2.0. I'm nearly finished the body, which only leaves the sleeves and collar to do. My coworker commissioned a hat last week - the Tweedy Beret (sans i-cord) from the A Cardigan For Arwen issue of Interweave Knits. I am using black Jaeger Extra Fine Merino Aran. It's going well since I gave up on the dpns and just started over with a pair of circs (magic loop, I love ya).
Bye for now!

2/3 done!

I've finally completed the left front!!! It took me forever (I had plenty of distractions).
Even after all this time, the o-wool still smells all clean and soapy.  I love it!  People with keen eyesight may notice the tea stain on the left front - one that didn't notice until this photo shoot.  I haven't washed the pieces yet, so I am hoping it will come out then.  I sould know better than to have a mug of tea in the same room as my knitting and a toddler.  Such is life.
Something else I've noticed from trying on the pieces - this might be my first sweater that actually fits me well! I am very excited to see the final result.

I'm finally making some progress on arwen take 2, after frogging the back and left front.

arwen update

So I finished the back in China and started on the left front back here in Montreal.

I used addi turbos for the back and I was battling tension problems the whole time. I tried british and continental style, to no avail. So I switched to clover bamboo flex needles for the left front and my tension problems seemed to have cleared up.  The end of the flex part of the needle can also double as a cable needle, by the way.

I really like how this sweater is turning out; the o-wool still has the super clean fresh smell it arrived with nearly 4 months ago.  I like.

That's it for now; I also have lappi and sock updates to come.

Arwen KAL

So I've decided to join my first KAL, Arwen.
I will be using o-wool, an organic aran weight wool avaiable from Ariadne, a great new shop in Montreal. At the moment, their only location in is on the internet, but they will schedule pick-ups for customers on the island of Montreal.
There is a cable panel along the edge of the cuffs, hood and the front left side and right side. I want to make this cable panel turn the corner at the front left and right sides; it will meet up in the back just as it does on the top of the hood. I've seen some cable panels turn a corner in Elsebeth Lavold's book, Viking Patterns for Knitting, I and think (hope) that I can figure it out here. I am pretty sure that it means I will have to sew the cable panel on to the sweater rather than knit it up in one piece. That being said, I haven't even begun to swatch - so off I go to swatch!!!!
